
Hyde Chair - Doug Jackson
Bio
Doug Jackson is a Los Angeles based architect whose work is primarily focused on the architectural potential of large-scale motion and user-transformation of space. Prior to being named the Hyde Chair of Excellence, Doug served as a partner along with Wes Jones in the award-winning and internationally-acclaimed office of Jones, Partners: Architecture (J,P:A), whose work has been widely exhibited and has been featured in numerous national and international publications, including the monographs Instrumental Form and El Segundo, published by Princeton Architectural Press in 1998 and 2007 respectively.
In addition, from 1999 through 2003 Doug maintained a parallel independent design practice, LARGE, whose work was featured in such books as Mobile: The Art of Portable Architecture and Xtreme Houses, as well as numerous issues of GA Houses.
Doug has taught graduate and undergraduate design studios at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (Sci-Arc) and the Otis College of Art and Design, and has served on studio and thesis juries at Sci-Arc, Columbia, the University of Arizona, and the University of Nebraska. Doug received his BArch from Virginia Tech and his MArch from Princeton University, and is a licensed architect in the State of California.
Doug will be offering a vertical studio as well as a topical graduate level elective this Fall 2007.
Doug Jackson, Hyde Chair of Excellence for Fall 2007 will deliver a lecture open to the public as well as UNL faculty, students and staff in the Van Brunt Center at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11.
