Professor Mutunayagam is a specialist in Regional Planning and Computer Applications in Planning and Architecture. He has over 40 years of national and international professional planning and teaching experience in Community and Regional Planning. He regularly works with State and Local Government planning and development agencies, non-profit organizations and Extension Educators throughout Nebraska on a variety of planning, research and service projects. He is a strong advocate of Citizen Planners and their roles and responsibilities for planning and management of community futures in all urban and rural communities throughout the state of Nebraska. Professor Mutunayagam is also an Extension Specialist working with University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension through the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and works with the Rural Initiative.

Professor Mutunayagam's teaching responsibilites include Introduction to Planning, Economic Development Planning, Planning Studio, Planning Theory and Planning with GIS.
