Masters of Architecture (2-Year) Application

We are very pleased you are considering the professional degree program in the Department of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Please note that the professional degree program is only available to those applicants who do not already hold a professional degree in architecture. If you hold a professional degree in architecture, your application will not be considered for this program. However, we do encourage you to apply for our M.S./Ph.D program.

Please adhere to the following deadline:

11 February 2007 - Completed application material must be received by the Department of Architecture.

The Department of Architecture has established specific requirements that must be met by all applicants. Students who apply should be certain that they have furnished all required documentation. Application materials should be sent directly to the Department of Architecture, 232 Architecture Hall West, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, NE 68588-0107, Attention: Admissions Coordinator. The required submittals are listed below:

  • Professional Program Application
  • $45 Application Fee (Please make checks payable to UNL.)
  • Master of Architecture Profile - Your Education Goals
  • A Portfolio of Design Work - The Department will return portfolios only if a return envelope and postage are provided, or arrangement is made for pick up at the Department Office. The portfolio is optional for those applying to the 3-Year MArch program.
  • An Official Transcript
  • Letters of Recommendation - Applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation.
  • TOEFL Scores - Results from an English proficiency examination are required of only international student applicants. (A Bachelors degree from an accredited university in the United States, Canada, or England replaces the TOEFL requirement for international students.)
  • Financial Resource Certification - International Students only.

Students who wish to pursue one of the dual degrees offered in conjunction with the Master of Architecture must apply separately to the other degree department. You should contact the other program directly to determine what their application requirements are. You will have to be accepted into both our program and the other degree-granting program to pursue the dual degrees. Acceptance into one and not the other will not void your acceptance into that program. It simply limits your participation to the program you are accepted into.

Your admittance into the Master of Architecture Program will require the purchase of a notebook microcomputer. The College is supporting both PC and Macintosh platforms. Either choice is acceptable. In addition, you will be required to purchase or lease the appropriate software required by the department. Detailed specifications for hardware and software will be sent to you with your acceptance package.

According to Graduate Studies, the estimated cost of attending the University of Nebraska for the 2006-2007averaged about $15,950 per academic year for a Nebraska Resident and $22,400 per academic year for a non-Nebraska resident. According to International Affairs it is estimated that the costs will be $22,475 per academic year for international students. This amount normally covers the cost of tuition, fees, books, room and board, health insurance and incidental expenses.
