Three professors from the College of Architecture had papers accepted to the 107th ACSA Conference in Detroit: Assistant Professor Catherine De Almeida with her paper "Thermal Worlds: Redefining Spatial Thresholds with Temperature in the Geothermal Landscape," Assistant Professor David Karle’s paper “Sandpit Urbanism,” and Assistant Professor Jason Griffiths’ with two student/instructor collaborative research papers entitled “Design-Build: Service Beyond Community” and “When Nature Strikes: A Study of Beetle Kill in America and Its Potential Use for Mass Timber Construction.” Griffiths explains, his students Aubrey Wassung and Mackenzie Gibbens played a vital role in the development of these papers and stresses the importance of collaborative student/instructor research in design pedagogy.

Professor Jeffrey L. Day’s Bucktown House project (with Min | Day) has been accepted for presentation in the Creative Scholarship session at the 2017 Interior Design Educators Council Annual Conference taking place in Chicago, IL in March 2017. Also from last week, Min | Day’s Bluebarn Theatre was featured on the international on-line magazine Dezeen.
