The online Gerontology Graduate Certificate with a Concentration in Interior Design provides students with a focused understanding of the relationship between the design of the built environment and its aging occupants.
It is estimated that the population of persons 65 years of age and older will increase from 56 million in 2020, to 98 million in 2060* This shift demands qualified professionals who can address the impact the built environment has on older individuals, their health and quality of life.
The online graduate certificate allows our MS-ID students who are interested in pursuing research on topics related to health and wellness for the age wave, to acquire focused training in the area of design and gerontology.
This 18 credit hour online graduate certificate program is offered in cooperation by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Architecture’s Interior Design Program and the University of Nebraska at Omaha Department of Gerontology.
