It is always exciting to see an older piece of architecture given new life. A work by Associate Professor Brian M. Kelly is currently being featured in and on the cover of Omaha Home magazine. The article showcases a 1950s concrete block house transformed, with a new addition and complete interior renovation. The new design extends the square footage with a small addition to the upper level master suite. A new rain screen system adds life to the exterior, wrapping around to integrate the new and the old. At the entrance, both in the front and the rear of the house, wood and steel trellis help transition between interior and exterior.
Brian led the project team, which included architect Andrea M. Kelly and design/build contractor Doug Kiser from dKISER design.construct who happens to be a graduate of UNL's Interior Design program!
