Teaching Interest
Michael Harpster operates as an educator as well as a practicing architect. His teaching places architectural design within a larger historical and social context, one that encourages students to embrace a conception of architecture as both a technological and a cultural practice.
Research Interest
Harpster's current research examines the cultural and material histories of housing within the United States and considers how contemporary construction technologies and zoning mechanisms might be leveraged toward the production of new affordable housing typologies.
