Teaching courses in the Department of Architecture since 1986 in the areas of structures in architecture, computer applications in architecture, and architectural design.

Sharon Kuska is a professor in the Architecture Program and the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Programs in the College of Architecture. Kuska joined the College in the fall of 1986, teaching courses primarily in structures and architectural design. Before pursuing her academic career, Kuska was an engineering and architectural design professional working at Bahr, Vermeer & Haecker Architects (now BVH Architecture).

Kuska’s main teaching focus has been in the areas of structures in architecture, women in design, sustainability and the built environment, and architectural design. In 2016 she received recognition as one of the Design Intelligence 25 Most Admired Educators, and in 2021 was awarded the College of Architecture Distinguished Teaching Award.

Areas of Interest

Kuska has explored several threads in her studies including issues and concerns related to both architecture and engineering; rural and vernacular architecture; bridge (and covered bridge) origins and design; sustainable [de]construction, design, and development; just to name a few.
