Shadow Day Registration

The College of Architecture welcomes prospective students into our building to experience what it’s like to be a student in the College. We will be opening our undergraduate design studios in Architecture, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture so you can spend the day shadowing our students and experiencing the culture and community of our college. Please register before February 20th!    

Shadow Day Attending (See Tentative Schedules Below) If you wish to attend more than one shadow day experience, please register separately for each day. Required

Given the unique circumstances, we are facing due to COVID-19 we have a flexible plan in place that may be subject to change based upon infectivity rates, recommendations of our campus leadership and local officials, and concern for safety and wellness.

Architecture- February 27, 2023

1:00-1:15 Welcome
Program Director David Karle will greet students.
1:15-2:00 Student Presentations
Observe third/fourth-year design studio presentations and critiques. This is a chance to see how students present their ideas and represent their design process and proposals to their peers, faculty, and professionals. In this review, students will not only share their design intentions and goals but also receive formative and constructive feedback on how to improve and maximize the spatial potentials of their design. Design studio and the studio review process is central to the academic experience of design students.

Understand what it is like to be a part of the program by attending a panel discussion featuring our amazing and talented students as they discuss all our Architecture Program has to offer and answer all your pressing questions.
3:15 Building Tour
You will be given a guided tour to see our work shop, media center and design studios.

Interior Design- March 6, 2023

1:00-1:15 Welcome
Program Director Lindsey Bahe will greet students.

1:15-2:00 Student Presentations
Selected student groups from 3rd and 4th year studios will present their work to visitors. This is a chance to see how students present their ideas and describe their design processes to an audience. Studio is central to the interior design curriculum and provides an active learning experience where students apply not only creative thinking, but critical thinking that brings in other aspects from core courses such as lighting, materials, and spatial standards to generate comprehensive design solutions.

2:15-3:00 Student Panel
Select students from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year will be available to discuss all things related to being a design student at UNL in the College of Architecture. You can discuss everything from time management, involvement in student organizations, laptop recommendations, study abroad opportunities, and other expectations/tips for success.

3:00-3:30 Optional Building Tour
You will be given a guided tour of our facilities. This is an opportunity to see other studios, media center, wood shop, and gallery spaces.

Landscape Architecture- March 6, 2023

12:00- 12:50 Meet the Community (lunch)
Brief faculty presentation with Q and A session. The students will do a panel discussion about the student experience in the LARC Program and answer questions. (30 minutes) The faculty will introduce themselves and the work happening their studio (5 minutes each for a total of 15 minutes)
12:50- 1:00 Break
1:00- 2:00 Studio Visit
Observe LARC 411 studio having a critique.
2:00- 2:20 Admissions Staff Q & A
Get admissions and/or transfer questions answered
