The Master of Community and Regional Planning and Master of Public Health dual degree is at the forefront of a rapidly growing field. This 3-year program focuses on identifying and addressing issues for communities through an integrative emphasis on the connection between equity, health and wellness, and the constructional environment. Put simply, better community planning can go a long way toward counteracting many serious health issues in communities.
This pathway is intended to serve populations who experience issues such as affordable housing, public transportation, food deserts, air and water quality, health disparities, etc. Having an expert in both planning and public health involved in identifying and addressing concerns for new or existing communities ensures equitable treatment and access to health-related services.
Who should apply?
Students and professionals interested in health, nutrition, geography, social justice, community planning, political science, business, natural resources, conservation engineering, biology, and all other areas uniquely tied to sustainable, equitable community development.
How can I apply?
Dual degree programs follow a unique application process. You must apply to the UNL Master of Community and Regional Planning and the UNO Master of Public Health separately. When filling out your application, please select the opposite program as the “concurrent program” and include the intention on your dual degree. All applicants to the dual degree programs must apply and be accepted into each program separately. Applicants are evaluated by each degree program in separate admissions processes.
