BIO:

Gabriel Anderson is an interior designer, furniture maker, and entrepreneur whose work spans hospitality design, luxury residential interiors, and collectible furniture. With a career grounded in both creative vision and hands-on execution, Anderson specializes in the intersection of design theory and material craft—deeply invested not only in how design functions and communicates, but in how it is made.

Before entering academia, Anderson co-founded a successful restaurant chain in Utah, where he first explored how spatial design shapes human experience. He later launched Dean & Dahl, a multidisciplinary design studio in New York City, producing interiors and custom furnishings for luxury hospitality environments and private clients alike. His practice has since evolved toward limited-edition, one-of-a-kind works that blur the boundaries between art, design, and utility—while continuing to deliver refined, scalable solutions for commercial spaces.

As an educator, Anderson is committed to preparing students for the demands of contemporary design practice while nurturing bold, individual expression. His teaching emphasizes conceptual rigor, material exploration, and the translation of ideas into expertly crafted form. He challenges students to think critically, engage deeply with process, and develop a creative voice that is both personally meaningful and professionally impactful.

Anderson’s current studio practice includes high-end, collectible furniture as well as luxury at scale for hospitality clients. He brings this dual perspective into the classroom—equipping students with the intellectual tools and technical fluency to lead in an increasingly competitive design landscape.
