The UNL College of Architecture announces the retirement of Kay Logan-Peters, full professor and architecture and art librarian. Logan-Peters has contributed a great deal to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries and the College of Architecture over the years in leadership, research and service. While we are unable to celebrate together in-person, UNL Libraries has provided an online message board to gather messages from colleagues and students. After graduating from UNL with an English and Art History degree, Logan-Peters took a job with Love Library in 1978. She held two different staff positions before leaving to attend the University of Missouri and received her Master of Arts degree in Library Science. When Logan-Peters returned to UNL in 1982, she took a position as assistant professor in serials/cataloging. She worked there for five years then realized that she wanted to work more directly with students which led her to apply for the open position of architecture librarian. Logan-Peters moved into the new Architecture Library and position in 1987. Over the years, Logan-Peters has devoted her scholarly and creative research on the history of the University of Nebraska. She has given many presentations on its architecture and a major product of her research, An Architectural Tour of Historic UNL, a website devoted to the first 100 years of building and campus growth, was launched in 2008. In 2017, she authored a book “University of Nebraska-Lincoln,” an illustrated history of the university. Logan-Peters is most proud about getting to showcase her research work of the last 25 years during Charter Day/N150 events last year and being chosen to give the Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture on February 12, 2019. Other highlights from her career at UNL include being appointed chair of Access and Branch Services from 2003-2010. Logan-Peters has had many leadership roles for the libraries, the university and national organizations including a term as president of the Central Plains Chapter of the Art Library Society in 2003 and conference host four times. Logan-Peters also served as president of the Association of Architecture School Librarians in 1994-1995.
