Architecture Studio Explores Solutions for Environmental Sustainability Using AI Technology
Technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly touching every aspect of our lives and in many ways we wouldn’t expect. AI has the ability to assist cybersecurity in preventing future attacks, analyzing wildlife habitat, predicting future pricing patterns and even shedding light on global environmental remediations.

Environmental Planning and Policy Class Adapts amid COVID Challenges
The COVID pandemic has changed the typical UNL student experience and regular class attendance in a myriad of ways. Students are regularly tuning in to Zoom lectures remotely, submitting assignments online and are struggling to network in the community and with their course peers.

Professor Jeffrey L. Day, FAIA and the fall 2019 FACT studio are among the honorees at this year’s AIA Central States Region Design Excellence Awards Celebration earning a Merit Award for their project “Sheridan County Fairgrounds 4H Campus” held September 25 in Des Moines, Iowa.

UNL Architecture Students Win Grand Prize In International Competition
Former master of architecture students Hannah Christy and Craig Findlay were named the student grand prize winners of Architizer’s prestigious 2020 One Drawing Challenge for their project titled “Concrete Atla(nti)s.” Out of 404 total international submissions, spring graduates Christy and Findlay were selected by a jury as the student competition winners.

The official name of Sharon Kuska’s Architecture 231 course? Structural Fundamentals.
“But we call it ‘Structural Fun,’” she said.
The professor and associate dean of architecture is ensuring that the course remains true to that informal name even amid the pandemic. And she’s doing it, surprisingly enough, by building certain facets of the pandemic into the course.
