What does Barbie the architect and Barbie the movie art director have in common? One might think, not a lot. However, there are quite a surprising number of design professionals that work on movie sets who either have architecture or interior design degrees.

More than 6,400 University of Nebraska–Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year, 178 were from the College of Architecture.

Qualification for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.  

The College of Architecture is pleased to announce Assistant Professor Kendra Ordia was honored with the 2023 Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) Teaching Excellence Award! Ordia was awarded this accolade because of her efforts in crafting nature-integrated interiors through biophilic experiential learning methodology in teaching studios.

College of Architecture students and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) researchers are working to bring new life to a Cold War relic here in Nebraska.

It took 15 architecture students about 12 hours over two days to create five prototype plant stands or coat trees that were practical, aesthetically pleasing and symbolic.

The College of Architecture is excited to announce Christopher Martin, nationally renowned furniture design-maker, will be giving a Godfrey & Roberta Kunzendorf Lecture on Furniture Design titled “Design Tangents; A Story of Exploration and Common Threads” at 4 p.m., October 28, in the Union Swanson Auditorium.

Kevin Van Den Wymelenberg has been named the new dean of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Architecture.

Van Den Wymelenberg will officially assume the position Jan. 5, pending approval by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. Katherine Ankerson, executive vice chancellor, made the announcement on Oct. 24.

It is with much pride and admiration, that we celebrate and applaud the excellence of Assistant Professor Aziza Cyamani who was recently awarded the 2022 IDSA Young Educator Award by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).

Two undergraduate students in the College of Architecture’s Interior Design Program were selected for the Metropolis Future 100, a list naming the top 50 interior design and top 50 architecture students graduating in North America this spring.
