ARCH 410, Fall 2014
Air Rights Architecture investigates the use of the available air space above buildings, challenging preconceived notions that architecture must primarily touch the ground. This reutilization allows the original building to be preserved as a cultural hub for the modern city, re-landmarking and creating a new cultural identity. Our aim was to make contextually conscious decisions in this growing urban center. As urban areas continue to densify we must re-landmark historic buildings via air rights proposals and reconsider the nostalgic notion of preservation.
