ARCH 411/ Spring 2017

The project goal is to change the perception of death and the grieving process through a linear progression as a sequence of the narrative of a better place. They did this by separating the mourners below ground and the body above ground. Above ground, where the body is located, two fabric screen layers surround a glass wall creating a mysterious light quality that mourners cannot fully understand. Below ground, where the mourners are, heavy slate and burned wood reflect the darkness and rawness of grieving.
