ARCH 411 / Spring 2023
Oldfather Hall is a twelve-story higher education building located in the University of Nebraska’s downtown Lincoln Campus. Built in the late 1960s, this building is rich in educational opportunities and is home to five departments: Global Integrative Studies, History, Political Science, Modern Language, and Sociology. Oldfather’s abundance in social science departments, as well as its skywalk connection to Bessey and Burnett Hall, makes it an ideal candidate for the development of new collaborative educational programs. Through applications of architectural subtraction and explorations of flexible privacy, transparency, and vertical connection, this project brings life to Oldfather Hall’s high-potential yet underutilized spaces.
