Master in Architecture (2-Year) Curriculum

The 2M 58 credit hour program integrates Design Research Studios, professional electives, and lecture-based courses into its curriculum. The heart of the STEM designated, Master of Architecture Program is the design-research studio. This intensive educational environment positions architectural exploration as a research protocol situated between the creative agendas of the arts and the technological methodologies of the sciences. The studios prepare students to be a self-motivated, professional capable of using design to work through complex problems and generate new architectural knowledge. Here, you will engage design and research agendas of contemporary significance. In these studios, students are co-researchers with faculty, creating new ideas rather than simply consuming knowledge.

Students can select one of the following completion tracks during the program: a sequence of Design Research Studios or a two semester Design Thesis. To view the list of 2M courses, download the program flowchart.

Prerequisite: All applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture or its equivalent from an NAAB accredited institution.

Dual Degree Options

Students who wish to pursue one of the dual degrees offered in conjunction with the Master of Architecture must apply separately to the other degree department. You should contact the other program directly to determine what their application requirements are. You will have to be accepted into both our program and the other degree-granting program to pursue the dual degrees. Acceptance into one and not the other will not void your acceptance into that program. It simply limits your participation to the program you are accepted into.
